Comments on Presentations

We have watched a crazy number of presentations… and from all these information the head is a bit dizzy. But there are some very impressive moments, which I remember from presentations. Fof example, the one about pornography in the Internet was very interetesting and exciting. I found out a lot of new info about children porno etc. This is awful, but it exists, which means that it should be disscussed in order to somehow reduce this problem.

 Another presentation about On-line dating was fun too. First of all, the topic of presentation is interesting and then, they included videos from England or US (can’t remember) about their attitude towards on-line relations. It was fun to know some styatistical data about how many people have met through the Internet and married etc.

So, all in all all those presentations included a lot of interesting and new for me things… It’s always interesting to learn something new!

  

Recognition of others faces is pretty common for us in our everyday life, we never think before we recognize someone from our friends or teachers, but how do we have thiese skills and what is the process of recognition faces? If we think deeply, our friends and relatives never look the same, every day they look a bit different (maybe they didn’t sleep well, or they changed their haircut, or they got more aknes on their faces) all those things change the way they look, but we still recognize them. There is something in our mind that helps us to do so. But in police and other crime investigative organizations there is a whole system to recognize those who are suspected. Those are the main parametres which are needed in order for computer to say that two pictures of faces Match:

Distance between the eyes

Width of the nose

Depth of the eye sockets

The shape of the cheekbones

The length of the jaw line

So, if for us it’s only a simple everyday thing to do, then for those organizations it’s a whole system!

FRIDAY 13TH …

Today is a nice day and mothing strange happened yet…;) I don’t believe in all those fairy tales about this day, that everything bad happens exactly at this day… Moreover, almost half of the fridays are 13th… it’s just happens for some reasons…

Moreover, today is a Golden Middle for all 3rd year students, so it’s really nice day, I hope the weather will not change

At today’s class we are disscussing how our mind recognizes different things and exactly FACES, I just visisted a site linked to newinfotechs.wordpress.com and found out interesting game with pictures of faces turned upside-down, and it’s funny how does my mind recognizes those pictures and different they are when you turn them to their right position. Tht’s really interesting….

Monday

it’s been always so difficult to turn yourself on studying on mondays… but today i feel pretty good and ready to study… we have visited the site linked to newinfotechs blog and went to some site where they are finding you by your phone number… that was funn, because finally what you get is some picture with the words that it’s just a joke…

ha-ha… but such systems do really exist and it’s kind of scary to know that someone can watch you every day from the satelites or whatever… so, I got to go… bye!

HEllo people!

I’ve been thinking about how fast our life is… 

Today I found out about the death of one of KIMEP Finance department teachers. I don’t know who is it, but I’m really upset to hear it… We need to think about ourselfs and people surrounding us, especially those who love us, while we are alive… Life is a great gift, we have to keep it. I’m really sorry about this teacher . . .

Working on Wiki in team!

THis is fun to create such kind of site, where not only one person can edit it and put any information, but many, as many as people want. Also, our wiki is avialable not only for us, group members, but also for others, who don’t even have wikis…. that is a real example of freedom of speach and expression!

Midterm Break is comming!!!

You know what is good about midterms??? Of course the midterm break, which is used by different students differently

Of course, its main purpose is to prepare for the mid exams, what is the point to do so, if more than half of exams are held before the break… yeah… this is really confusing!

Most of students from other cities are already gone to their home towns, this is confusing too…

Right now, as usual , I’m at the NIT class and doing my post.

Now, let me tell you about my friend, Yelzhan, he is sitting rithg now next to me and dying to be mentioned in my today’s post ha-ha… He is a typical KIMEP student, wit his typical problems, today he is leaving to Karaganda, his motherLand I want to wish him good luck and Zholyn Bolsyn…

P.S.: he is not from this class, he is breaking the rule right now!!!

Midterms are comming…

THis is terrible, there is only 2 weeks left till the midterm break starting from todAY!!!  And what is really terrible that half of the midterms will be held before the mid break…

I’m really disappointed because my knowledges in my classes are not so deep, as it needed to be, so I’m not really ready for those midterms….

well, we’ll see what is going to happen….  

My community – KIMEP

I don’t actually care about my community and especially about KIMEP, I have many friends with whom I spend most of my time, but I don’t care about the rest of the students. But generally speaking, I think that KIMEP society is very cold and doesn’t really seem to be kind to every member of it. sometimes our KIMEP society is pretty cruel that’s why I don’t want to deal with it… Well, that’s just my opinion, I might be wrong!

I’ve been reading different stuff about on-line journalism recently… I liked one about participatory journalism… it’s really strange that people can just publish their news and different info on-line and  a huge public of internet viewers will see it and can even leave their comments, this is amazing!
